Effects of structured group play therapy on the peer modelings of mental retarded infants

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to improve peer modelings of mental retarded infants through structured group play therapy who were referred for therapy.
The age range of subjects was 2-rear 11-months to 4-fear 8-month. The subjects were6 mental retarded infant (experimental group: 3, control group: 3).
Each session was 40 minutes long, semiweekly, and a total of 12 sessions and one follow up session were held.
This study was designed as pre- and post-test design For the assessment of Social Development of the subjects, Portage Developmental Observed Recording was used in pre-test and post-test And, for the changes of peer modeling, peer observation recording sheet was used.
The the main results of this study were as follows
1. The effect of structured group play therapy on peer modelings was significant in therapy sessions of mental retarded infants group.
2. The effect of structured group play therapy on peer modelings of those mental retarded infants in experimental group was generalized in kindergarten situation.
3. Thought the structured group play therapy, the social development level could be improved.
